Homebuilding Tips
Don't Let Buzzwords Cost You Money.
On a recent local newscast I saw a story about a builder who is building passive solar homes and selling them like hotcakes. As I watched the story, I didn't see anything passive solar about it. All I saw was orienting a standard Colonial design towards the south.  Passive solar is much more than facing some windows to the south.
Today, many builders are throwing around buzzwords like "green building", "energy efficient" or "passive solar".  What many builders are selling as energy efficient upgrades are our minimums, but we don't throw around the buzzword.  When getting ready to build your new home do some research on the standards and design elements that are important to you. If you want a passive solar home, there are number of resources on the internet that explain the full effects of passive solar and how to design a home to make efficient use of the sun.

So don't buy what a builder is selling because of a buzzword, buy it because it's the elements and standards you want in a home.

Product Highlight

Oasis Foundation Wall System

When you are building a new home you want to use the best possible materials. Granite counter tops, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, rich attractive siding, energy efficient windows and attractive landscaping all help to make your new house become a home. So why not start with a finished basement?

The Oasis Foundation Wall System is the best and fastest way to turn your basement into extra living space. Every Oasis system is custom designed and manufactured specifically for the individual home being built.

Made of high-strength precast concrete, insulated and finished with DensArmor® Plus paperless interior wallboard, the Oasis system is far superior in both quality and appearance to any traditional poured-in-place concrete foundation. And because most installations are completed in just one day in almost any weather, an Oasis Foundation helps to keep your construction project moving quickly and on schedule.

The finished Oasis System provides your new home with a basement that is energy-efficient, mold and mildew resistant, quiet, warm and comfortable, and when it's finished it won't have that typical "basement smell." Furthermore, an Oasis Foundation Wall System can even boost your home's resale value.
