A Bit About Us..
We have a large number of new subscribers this
month (and the media say's no one is building?). So for the new
readers here is a bit about us: JenRan Homes, LLC is a
builder/dealer for panelized, modular, post & beam and log
homes. We build and sell the panelized, modular and post & beam
regionally here in Connecticut. We build the Cedar Log Homes
regionally and can provide a complete log home package throughout
the US. So if you are outside our building area, we can still help
you with the log home of your dreams. Ready to get your homebuilding
project, give us a call, we would love to work with you.
New Cedar Log Website

Log section of our website. Take a look to see all of our floorplans and

Ballpark Budgets |
|
One of the most common questions we receive is:
What does it cost to build? As those that have talked to us know, we
do give out square foot ballpark estimates. We do so to give our
clients an idea of what to expect when looking into building a new
home. There is a danger in using square foot budgets though. Many
factors affect the overall construction price of a new home. Items
like excavating, well drilling, length of driveway and cost to bring
in power do not change based on the size of the home. Also, a 1500
sq.ft Ranch may have a different final square foot cost over a 1500
sq.ft. Colonial. Why? Because a ranch uses much more concrete
and excavating as it has a larger footprint. Complex designs also
affect the construction cost as well. So while we give out square
foot ballpark budgets please keep in mind that the number can fluctuate
on a number of factors. It is very easy for us to give you a much
more defined budget once we know the conditions of the lot and the
house design. So if you are looking for land and want to hire us as
your builder, please contact us as early as possible so we can help
you with house placement, design, etc. to help keep your home on
budget.

Tips |
Thrifty
Now, Thankful Later
One of the hardest parts of building a new home is staying
on budget. Everyone wants the best in their new home but the best
can be a budget killer. One pitfall many fall into is spending money
on extras early in the construction process only to find they lack
funds when they near completion. There will be opportunities offered
for upgrades like a higher grade subfloor or more expensive windows.
While these upgrades may be a little extra, those are items that eat
into a budget and leave less funds for later on. So while building
your new home, avoiding those early upgrades will help you in the
long run. As always, it's wise to talk to your builder and ask the
difference between the available options to help decide what is best
for your new home.
